Cleeve members selections – 13th Sepetember

Hi everyone,

The Doncaster St Leger meeting starts tomorrow which we will be covering everyday.

Tomorrow is a mixed bag of races including the Leger Legends race with some old familiar retired Jockeys riding including George Duffield at the ripe old age of  71. Its amazing to think he rode his first winner at Yarmouth in 1967 after 5 years of trying. He went onto form one of the greatest trainer/jockey partnerships in horse racing history, riding for Sir Mark Prescot for 38 years. We wish him a safe ride and hope he bags another winner to add to his career tally of  2,567.

We have just the one selection to kick off the meeting so lets get down to it.

Good luck,
The team at Cleeve

P.S. if you head over to the Blog section we have posted the August review

Lahore 2 points to win at 4/1 Ladbrokes, Corals and Stan James

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Lahore – 74
2) Bengal Lancer – 72
3) Hyde Park – 69

Race analysis:
Hyde Park was a non-runner two runs back when the ground was soft and the ground will be at least as soft on Wednesday, so he could drop out again. If he does run he may just hate the experience… plus he has a lot of weight to give to all of the field.

Bengal Lancer was incredibly impressive when winning his last two races, but he went up a stone for his last win. He goes well for his young apprentice rider, but the combination of stepping up two classes and the extra stone makes this a very tough ask.

Lahore has only had three runs winning at Class 3 and then running reasonably at Group 3 level. The drop in Class and the step up in distance will both suit, and I expect Lahore to tuck in behind the leaders before making a move in the final furlong.

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Mount Logan – 45
2) Mirage Dancer– 43
3) Best Of Days – 43

Race analysis:
This is likely to be run at a muddling pace which could play into the hooves of Mirage Dancer, but with only 2 points separating the top 3 it wouldn’t surprise me if any of them won… so no selection .
