A decent chase from Gowran Park with some top class jumpers. The ground will be testing and it usually takes a horse with low mileage and a light weight to win this race.

3.15 Gowran Park Goffs Thyestes Handicap Chase (Grade A) (5yo+)

Hunting Party 1 point each way at Betfair odds or 16/1 Bet365 and BetVictor and Panther Claw 1 point each way at Betfair odds or 14/1 various

Race Analysis:

The top two rated from Willie Mullin’s all conquering stable On His Own and Vesper Bell are the best horses in the race but consequently have a lot of weight.

Generally this race is won by a horse carrying less than 10-8 and has very limited chasing experience, which would rule out the top two.  There is a very good chance that they could place but aren’t value to play each way.

Lookoutnow has been the subject of a huge gamble over the last few weeks and he is probably the biggest threat to our two.  Course form or at least experience has proven vital in this race and Lookoutnow certainly enjoys Gowran Park.

Panther Claw has the able assistance of Barry Geraghty and his trainer has a decent record in this race.  He was third in this race last season and I think has added enought experience to put him in the mix on ground which he will love.  He is too big a price in my view and can at least place.

Hunting Party has won at Gowran and although he fell at the first last time out he is generally a sound jumper.  He is a horse on the upgrade and despite his disappointment last time can be hunted (sorry!) round the back by Paul Carberry.  I don’t expect him to make a move until the latter stages and hopefully will be in the first four.
