as the excitement builds for Cheltenham's top-class week of action the flip side is that the quality of racing has been really poor for the last couple of weeks. This has been exacerbated as the weather has taken its toll yet again with Sandown being abandoned due to a waterlogged course.
Given that this was the only card with Class 2 races scheduled, our normal schedule was scuppered! We looked long and hard at the two remaining jumps meetings at Ayr and Hereford but it's pretty dire stuff at both of them with just two Class 3 races and many of the races with small fields, We are not going to have tips for the sake of it as that's foolish, so we'll keep our hands in our pockets and focus all our energies on next week's Cheltenham Festival.
To this end, we are looking at The Arkle, Ryanair and the Champion Chase and hope to come up with at least one more ante-post tip as all bookies are now going NRNB on most races, so keep your eyes on your inboxes.
This year we are also going to be doing something a little different. As the final declarations are now published at the 48-hour stage we have more time to do the analysis. As an added value extra we will be publishing the ratings for the entire field in every race. We will be doing this in a separate post which will be linked to the main selections post.
This means the selection post won't be any longer than normal. We hope this will help you with any bets you will be having, and you can use them as a guide for or against or not at all, it's completely up to you.
For new members that have joined us for the Cheltenham Festival; welcome!
