Hi everyone,

It was another losing day on Saturday with just over 2 points loss. I have been looking through the results and its such a fine line between profit and loss, take for example just two 2nds in Ghostwatch and Zwaayyn getting their heads in front turns a losing month into a winning month over 28 selections. One of the other things I noticed is we had a very poor Doncaster meeting in comparison to last year where we generated over 20 points profit from that single meeting alone.

We will be a little more cautious as we come near to the end of the Flat season with horses going over the top and significant ground changes to contend with. Our target is to finish off the season with 100+ points profit if we can do that we will be very happy.

We have looked at the 3 Class 2 races for tomorrow but have not put up any selections and we will be back tomorrow night with selections for Thursday

Good luck,
The team at Cleeve

2.30 Goodwood 1m Maltsmiths Optional Claiming Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Mukalal – 84
2) Examiner – 82
3) South Seas – 77

Race analysis:
I do not like claiming races due to the nature of the type of race where some trainers are trying to sell on stock and may have been covering up a horse’s ability to get a decent mark. No Bet.

3.35 Goodwood 1m2f (1m1f197y) British Stallion Studs EBF Foundation Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (3yo+)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Threading – 64
2) First Sitting – 60
3) Plutonian – 59

Race analysis:
I  was tempted to go for Threading, but I am unsure if he will stay the 1 mile 2 furlongs. He has excellent form in the book finishing second to Alpha Centauri earlier in the season and has been highly tried since. First Siting has beaten Spark Plug twice now but the latter gets 3lbs and may reverse that form. Plutonium put in a below par performance on his last outing but a return to form could see him in the mix here. Of the others, Gabr is a danger being stepped up in trip and is fitted with a tongue tie for the first time. All in all a trappy affair and I couldn’t put up a selection with a huge amount of confidence so best left alone.

4.10 Goodwood 1m6f TBA #thisfillycan Fillies' Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-105)

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Elasia – 66
1) Luire – 66
3) Lorelina – 63

Race analysis:
Of our Top 3 rated Luire has not performed well since moving to Clive Cox and is best watched at present. Lorelina has been in barnstorming form and is looking for a 4 timer but she is entering uncharted territory trip wise. She may well stay but she is too short for me to back her. Elasia is relatively unexposed but steps up in Class here against mainly older rivals and again is too short for me.
I couldn’t see any value angle in this so no selection.
