Cleeve members selections – Wednesday 11th September

Hi everyone,

Our only selection on Sunday Perfection was far from it!! He came with a challenge at the two-furlong marker but just stayed on at the one pace and our second tip rated Dakota Gold continued his winning run making it 4 on the bounce.

We move on and we have the Doncsaster meeting this week which, to be honest, is probably a day or two too long in my opinion, and this shows with the first day being pretty poor fair.

We have run the ratings and done the analysis and come up with what we thought were two bets but we will leave Loxley alone as he looks like he will not meet our price criteria of minimum 2/1, on early shows he's a best priced 13/8 if he does drift on the day to 2/1 or bigger we wouldn't put you off having a bet as we think he has a very good chance of winning, but he won't be a member selection.

Good luck
The team at Cleeve

1.50 Doncaster 6f (6f2y) British Stallion Studs EBF Conditions Stakes (Plus 10 Race) (Class 2) (2yo)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Lazuli – 36
1) Lampang – 36
3) Misty Grey – 32
3) Brad The Brief – 32

Race analysis:
All the runners in this race (all four of them) feature in our ratings so it’s definitely not a betting race for us. No Bet.

2.25 Doncaster 7f (7f6y) Pepsi Max Nursery Handicap (Class 2) (2yo)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Hurstwood – 87
2) Hariboux – 87
3) Owney Madden – 85

Race analysis:
I think Hariboux could be hard to beat here, even though he must give weight all round and the fact that there are several decent challengers. It’s a race to watch rather than bet in. No Bet.

3.00 Doncaster 5f (5f3y) DC Training And Development Services Scarbrough Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (2yo+)

Selections:

El Astronaute 2 points to win at 4/1 with Betfair, Betvictor and Unibet

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Tis Marvellous – 64
2) El Astronaute – 62
3) Queens Gift – 60

Race analysis:
Queens Gift finished second in a Listed race last time where she had Tis Marvellous two lengths back. is Marvellous finished an unlucky fifth in the Beverly Bullet having his run blocked twice at vital times, and with a clear run could reverse the tables here. Queens Gift took a huge step up in class last time and did not look out of place. I expect another decent from her run here.

El Astronaute was second in this race last season and has subsequently finished down the field in a Group 1 and 2 on his last two starts. Before that, he had won and finished second in his previous three races including winning at this level. His stable is now in form probably for the first time this season, so I expect an improved performance from this tough performer.

4.10 Doncaster 1m4f (1m3f197y) British EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-100)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Litigious – 36
2) Asoof – 34
3) Makawee – 33

Race analysis:
Another poor turnout and zero value to be had, so no bet for us. No Bet.

4.45 Doncaster 1m2f (1m2f43y) William Hill Leading Racecourse Bookmaker Conditions Stakes (Class 2) (3yo+)

Selections:

Loxley 2 points to win NO BET... PRICE TOO SHORT

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Loxley – 58
2) Willie John– 50
3) Walkinthesand – 50

Race analysis:
Willie John has disappointed in his last few races apart from finishing second in a Listed race back in May; however, his overall form has not set the world alight. He does have a course and distance win to his name in a lesser race and his jockey does well here, so perhaps there may be a return to form, but he’s not one to trust at present.

Walkinthesand was highly tried last time but has won a valuable handicap over this trip and Richard Hannon is starting to get his string in decent form. He will need to improve to win this, but that is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Loxley has won at Listed and Group 2 level on soft going but also has won on good to firm. Loxley has looked very good over this trip and if running to form could be very hard to beat; hopefully, he will be an acceptable price.
