Hi everyone,

nothing to report back on from today.

Having analysed the 4 Class 2 races for tomorrow (2 of which are 2-year-old races which you know I am not too keen on having selections in) I couldn't come up with anything strong enough to have a selection.

As I said we will be a bit more cautious from now until the end of the season and only have selections when we feel conditions are right. We will be back tomorrow night hopefully with some selections for Friday.

Good luck,
The team at Cleeve

2.25 Newmarket 1m (Row) Bonhams Nursery Handicap (Class 2) (2yo)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Indomitable – 76
2) Greeley – 75
3) Daafr – 69

Race analysis:
Indomitable was dropped in Class last time and landed the odds at Chester and steps up again to Class 2. The extra trip may be an advantage but he may still struggle in this. Greely is looking for a 4 timer but a 9lb rise in the weights makes this difficult. Daafr also has an 8lb rise in the weights to contend. Of the others, Mordred is an obvious danger with Ryan Moore booked.

2-year-old Nurseries are not my kind of race for betting in so we will have a watching brief on this one.

3.35 Newmarket 7f (Row) Tattersalls Stakes (Registered As The Somerville Tattersall Stakes) (Group 3) (Colts & Geldings) (Class 1) (2yo)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Arctic Sound – 64
2) Cardini – 57
3) Dunkerron – 56

Race analysis:
This should be a good race to watch for future winners, but the top three are hard to split and there are a couple of nicely bred types that are likely to improve  that further cloud the picture. No bet.

4.10 Newmarket 2m (Row) Jockey Club Rose Bowl Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (3yo+)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Sheikhzayedroad – 65
2) Sevenna Star – 59
3) Nearly Caught – 58

Race analysis:
I spent over an hour looking at the shortlist for this race and even the could not pick the what I thought was the likely winner with any confidence. Most of these are past their best and have become inconsistent so it is hard to know which one is going to put their best foot forward. Sevenna Star will be dangerous if he stays, but he has never run further than 1 ½ miles so there’s a big question mark even with him. No bet.

4.45 Newmarket 1m4f (Row) Weatherbys General Stud Book Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-100)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Byron Flyer – 66
2) Rashdan – 60
2) Star Of The East – 60

Race analysis:
I would love to see the Byron Flyer win this as he seems to have been around forever. He has gone up 3lbs for his recent win at the St Leger meeting but he has a very low strike rate overall and that puts me off sufficiently to give him the swerve. Star Of The East was beaten by Byron Flyer the last time they met but now has a pull at the weights so may well reverse that form.

Rashdan has done all his winning on the all-weather and his turf form is just not up to winning this. Apart from the top 3 rated there are other threats from Drill and Seafarer, so again I found it impossible to find a strong enough choice for a winner.
