Cleeve members selections – Sunday 29th December

cleeveracing

Hello there,

I thought we were very lucky to get a place today with Soul Emotion... he jumped quite beautifully, slick and fast which is a credit to the work that Nicky Henderson does with his young hurdlers at home. He contested the lead all the way but was beaten approaching the last when the leader Now Look At Me fell when looking the likely winner and badly hampered One For Rosie allowing us to get 3rd place when it looked like we were booked for 5th.

Still we'll take it and it resulted in a point profit on the day. We have one strong bet tomorrow so let's hope we're back in the winner's enclosure...

Good luck
The team at Cleeve

1.20 Leopardstown 2m4½f (2m4f65y) Advent Insurance Irish EBF Mares Hurdle (Grade 3) (4yo+)

Selections:

No Bet

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Elfile – 82
2) Stormy Ireland – 81
3) My Sister Sarah – 78
3) Eglantine Du Seuil – 78

Race analysis:
A very decent mares’ hurdle and as you can see from the ratings too close to call, so just enjoy the race. No Bet.

1.35 Doncaster 2m4½f (2m4f115y) MansionBet At Doncaster Yorkshire Silver Vase Mares' Chase (Listed Race) (Class 1) (4yo+)

Selections:

Le Bague Au Roi - 3 points win at 3/1 with BetVictor and Bet365

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) La Bague Au Roi – 77
2) Casablanca Mix – 72
3) Lady Buttons – 65

Race analysis:
I will be very surprised if the winner does not come from the top three rated.

Lady Buttons won this off the same mark last season and she is sure to go well again, but she has a far tougher set of opponents here. I do think she will give her all as usual but is likely to have to settle for a place.

Casablanca Mix is the top rated horse on official ratings and the stable is in red hot form. Her latest run saw her win by a distance in a four runner Listed race and a repetition of that form should put her in the mix here. She does have scope to improve, which she will need to do to win this against some top class mares.

La Bague Au Roi has been running in top graded races against the boys so moving back in class into a race against her own sex should be a much easier challenge. The trainer and jockey combination is another positive, especially in December. La Bague Au Roi has already won two Grade 1 races and challenged in other graded races and if on song she will win this.

1.45 Limerick 2m Irish Independent Hurdle (Grade 3) (4yo)

Selections:

No Bet

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Surin – 75
2) Franco De Port – 68
3) Soviet Pimpernel – 65

Race analysis:
This should be won by Surin, but he is no value and his nearest likely challenger Franco De Port is about a point short of being value, so just a race to watch for future winners. No Bet.

1.55 Leopardstown 3m Neville Hotels Novice Chase (Grade 1) (4yo+)

Selections:

No Bet

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Champagne Classic – 64
2) Battleoverdoyen – 63
3) Minella Indo – 62

Race analysis:
Some very decent novices on show here, but the top three could not be separated although I do like Minella Indo from the red hot Henry de Bromhead and Rachel Blackmore team. No Bet.

2.30 Leopardstown 2m Matheson Hurdle (Grade 1) (4yo+)

Selections:

No Bet

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Apple’s Jade – 68
2) Klassical Dream – 65
3) Darasso – 52

Race analysis:
Apples Jade won today and is very unlikely to run tomorrow, which means Klassical Dream is the most likely victor, but his price is far too short for a horse that disappointed on his last run. No Bet.
