Hi everyone,
we had just the two selections yesterday giving us a loser and place with a small loss of 1 point on the day.
We have a couple of selections today from Newmarket and Windsor and we could do with some points on the board to get the month back in profit.
Its been a strange and tough month with the return of racing and we may be behind slightly but we know things will improve.
We will be putting out a statement early next week about what has been happening behind the scenes at Cleeve and how we will be proceeding over the coming months so keep an eye on your emails.

Good luck
The team at Cleeve

1.35 Newmarket 1m (Row) Betway Casino Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-105)

Selections:

Wadilsafa 1 point each way at 6/1 generally

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Power Of Darkness – 71
2) Wadilsafa – 67
3) Gin Palace – 65

Race analysis:
Gin Palace comes here in form having won last time, but that was in a Class 4 and he has gone up four pounds for that win. Georgia Dobie takes five pounds off and she won on Gin Palace when they were last paired. I think Gin Palace will struggle in this company.

Power Of Darkness comes into this after a break and fitness may be an issue here. His price of around 3/1 is a bit short considering the break and his two previous runs here having ended in disappointment. I do think he is the biggest threat to our selection, but even though I think Power Of Darkness has the potential to be better than Class 2 I remain doubtful if he will handle the course.

Wadilsafa was highly tried last season running in Group and Listed races and finished second in a Listed race at York behind Happy Power. This son of Frankel from the in-form Owen Burrows’ stable has had a wind operation in the winter and the drop back to handicap company should see him return to winning ways. I expect him to tuck in behind Gin Palace and make a move entering the final furlong. My only concern is if he gets lit up on his reappearance and blows his chance in the early stages. I hope Dane O’Neill gets Wadilsafa to settle and bring him through to win.

2.25 Windsor 6f (6f12y) Bombardier Golden Beer Carnarvon Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (3yo)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Dark Lady – 52
1) Maystar – 52
3) Repartee – 51

Race analysis:
A small field and too close to call, so no bet. No Bet.

2.45 Newmarket 6f (Row) Betway Empress Fillies' Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (2yo)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Kadupul – 64
2) Concessions – 61
3) Undertake – 61

Race analysis:
Only four points separate the top five rated here and I found it impossible to find a clear chance here. Two-year-old fillies are not the most stable of betting media. No Bet.

3.00 Windsor 1m (1m31y) Bombardier British Hopped Amber Beer Midsummer Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (3yo+)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Accidental Agent – 71
2) Davydenko – 69
3) Urban Icon – 68

Race analysis:
This is a particularly good race at Listed level, and it pits experienced types like Accidental Agent, that made a decent comeback after being gelded at Ascot, Stormy Antarctic the favourite against improving sorts Davydenko and Urban Icon. A great race to watch but not to bet on. No Bet.

3.20 Newmarket 6f (Row) Betway Handicap (Class 2) (3yo 0-105)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Ascension – 36
2) Buhtri – 34
2) Monoski – 34

Race analysis:
Only four runners make this a non-betting race and a big disappointment for a Grade 2 with good prize money. No Bet.

3.35 Windsor 1m (1m31y) Bombardier "March To Your Own Drum" Handicap (Class 2) (3yo 0-100)

Selections:

Festive Star 1 point each way at 12/1 generally

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Festive Star – 85
2) Oh Purple Reign – 76
2) Dance Fever – 76

Race analysis:
Third rated Dance Fever moves up in class here but looks like being a non-runner as no odds are listed in the racing post.

Tell Me All has disappointed on his last two runs and I would like to see some return to form before trusting him. The stable is in form and I think this one will improve as the season progresses.

Oh Purple Reign ran a lot as a two-year-old and was placed in a Group 3 over six furlongs but seems to have lost his way as a three-year-old. He has dropped back to below his last winning mark and would be a danger if returning to form.

Two other challengers sit at the top of the market Surf Dancer and Jean Baptiste

Festive Star has only had four runs but has already won at Listed level before disappointing in October on heavy ground in a Group 3 at Deuville. The stable has just started to get amongst the winners and Festive Star can continue her progress here at a value price. This daughter of Golden Horn should improve as she moves up in trip and I think she will prove to be the best of these.

3.45 Curragh 5f Paddy Power Rockingham Handicap (Premier Handicap) (3yo+)

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 4 Rated:
1) Maid Of Spirit – 132
2) Urban Beat – 129
3) Jungle Jane– 128
4) Alligator Alley – 126

Race analysis:
An extremely competitive race and I could not find anything that stood out, so no action for us. No Bet.

3.55 Newmarket 1m2f (Row) Heed Your Hunch At Betway Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-105)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Dal Horrisgle – 45
2) Desert Icon – 44
2) Wait Forever – 44

Race analysis:
Just the five runners and the ratings are tight. This may be on the short side for Dal Horrisgle. Wait Forever looks fully exposed and Desert Icon looks the likely winner but no bet at the price.

4.30 Newmarket 1m4f (Row) Betway Fred Archer Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (4yo+)

Selections:

NO SELECTION

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) First In Line – 64
2) El Misk – 61
2) Pablo Escobarr – 61

Race analysis:
Another race which is too close to call with any one of the top four rated being capable of winning on their day. No Bet.
