not much luck today with our selections. We had 4 selections in 3 races and only managed a place with Go Conquer running a decent race in the Betdaq Handicap.
So a 3.5 point loss on the day but with Rene's Girl winning on Thursday we still booked a 4.5 point profit on the week. We will do a full review of todays selections on Monday.
We move on and have a selection for tomorrow so down to business...
The team at Cleeve
3.20 Fontwell 2m3f (2m3f49y) totepool National Spirit Hurdle (Grade 2) (Class 1) (4yo+)
Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) Lil Rockerfeller – 74
2) Old Guard – 71
3) Clyne – 69
3) Dr Des – 69
Clyne has shown his best form on soft or heavy going and I am not convinced he will have the speed to go with the top two rated on this better ground.
Dr Des has not been out of the top two in his last five races, but those performances have all been at a much lower level. His best performance was a second place in a Novice Grade 2, but that is way below what is required to win this. He would need to improve by about a stone just to be competitive.
Old Guard was disappointing last time, but that could be due to the very heavy going and the decent surface here should suit. I am not convinced that this level one where he can win at consistently. I know he has a win at this level but having been tried at Graded level ten times since without winning.
Lil Rockerfeller disappointed last time and has first time blinkers here, which should aid his concentration. Although he was second in the Grade 1 Stayers over 3 miles at Cheltenham last year I think he is better around this trip and his wins have been at this level over around this trip. If there is nothing untoward wrong with Lil Rockerfeller I think he can see off the challenge of Old Guard.
