we are experiencing some technical difficulties this morning and we cant edit the original post hence this new post.
There has been 8mm of rain at York this morning which has changed the going and meant that there have been a total of 3 withdrawals so far in the 2.40 at York where we had a selection Encrypted who is one of the non-runners.
We have decided to replace Encrypted with Staxton who should handle the going OK - see the write up below.
The team at Cleeve
2.40 York 6f Sky Bet Dash Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-105)
Cleeve Top 4 Rated:
1) Swindler – 116
2) Brian The Snail -115
3) Golden Apollo -114
4) Camacho Chief -114
5) Staxton -114
Brian The Snail has done his winning in lower-level races and has paid for his consistency by shifting up the weights. I am not convinced that he can win at this level but is likely to be thereabouts in the final furlong.
Camacho Chief will be pleased with any rain that falls but I think he is best at five furlongs rather than this six-furlong trip. He is improving and if he sees out the trip, he could be dangerous.
Staxton is our 5th top-rated but as you can see there are only 2 points separating the top 5 and there is quite a gap to the other runners. He is in decent form and comes here with a chance of victory, he will handle the change in the ground better than some of the other runners. He does seem to be at his best in smaller fields but with the non-runners, he should fare better. He would be winning off a career-high mark but again with the non-runners, he has a good chance and looks to be of value now.
Other dangers include Golden Apollo and Hyperfocus.
Encrypted has a good winning attitude and really seems to be suited by a big field and has the speed to win over this trip and shorter. He is a course and distance winner and with the stable showing form for the first time for a while, he can win this very valuable handicap.
