Cleeve members selections – Punchestown Day 5
Hi everyone,
Update - My Murphy is a non runner so we have a replacement in our good friend Rogue Angel 1 pt EW at 8/1 generally
Well we made a decent profit today with Jers Girl winning by an impressive 10 lenghts even though My Tent or Yours was done for speed before two out and Vroom Vroom Mag who was Annie Powers replacement went on to take the spoils. Yet again another Mullins victory!!
Also on a selfish note we had a fantastic result with Avant Tout winning even after Paul Towend lost an iron going over the second last and looked like he might go out of then side door at one stage.
Tomorrow is not only the last day of the Punchestown Festival but officially the last day of our National Hunt season service.
We hope you have enjoyed the service and even though its been a bit of a roller coaster and not our best season in terms of profits I think you will agree that even though we had a bad spell earlier in the year we managed to turn things around and get back on an even keel.
We will post a summary of the season next week and for those of you who are on board for the Flat season we will providing the same high quality of service you are used to. For those of you who have not come on board there are still a few spots left for the early bird discounts that you can check out here.
Onto business and we have just the one selection at Punchestown as
God luck

Race Analysis:
Top 4 Rated:
1) Rogue Angel
2) Texas Jack
3) My Murphy
4) Toon River
This is always a tough handicap to win and curiously the top four rated are also in top 4 four weighted and it will be no surprise to see any one of these win this.
Outside of the top four possible challengers are Pleasant Company, which I ruled out due to a lack of experience, and Heaney which was fourth in this last year and runs off a six pounds better mark now.
Texas Jack would have been rated as having a good chance if this race was being run a couple years ago, as he was winning at Grade 2 level and placing at Grade 1. Since then he has run consistently without looking like winning. The drop in class might give him hope here but three miles usually tests his stamina.
Toon River should go well again but I am not convinced he really gets three miles over fences (he did win over hurdles though) and this race will probably stretch him too much. His best hope will be running past tired horses into a place.
Our original selection My Murphy is now a non runner
Rogue Angel will have a place in the heart of all Cleeve subscribers after winning the Irish National for us at 33/1. He has had a break since and will come into this in good heart especially with the stable having followed up in the Grand National. Horses seem to sense when things are going well or badly, and is a more than adequate replacement for My Murphy as he is top rated and with two of the top four rated now non-runners he now represents good value at 9/1. There are enough question marks about his rivals here and at least we know he can jump and get round whereas several others have issues doing both. He can top off a brilliant season for Mouse Morris and his team by winning here.
