Sanus Per Aquam managed to get up on the line to win in a photo today after being backed into the 2/1 fav. He ran a strange race and coming into the dip we thought it was all over then he ran on almost into the back of Tasleet that took some momentum out of his resurgence but he ran on again to snatch victory in the dying stride. - not that we are complaining a win is a win!!
Onto Fridays action where we have just the one selection again.
The team at Cleeve
15:40 Newmarket - Shadwell Joel Stakes (Group 2)
Custom Cut bids to repeat last years victory in this race. He is a battled hardened campaigner and he comes into this at the top of his game winning the Group 2 Boomerang Stakes at Leopardstown recently.
He is up against a field of 3 year olds giving weight away all round headed by the talented Time Test.
Time Test came up short at York albeit in a Group 1 but the ground may be against him and its the first time over the trip so its worth taking him on at the odds on prices.
Decorated Knight is stepping up in class but was pulled out of a race at Sandown recently due to the ground being too soft so conditions and class look to be against him. Tupi has been struggling in Group company and there is no reason to see enough improvement to win this.
Danny Tudthorpe keeps the ride and has a 50% strike rate on Custom Cut and we can see him staying on in the final furlong to defend his crown
