Cleeve members (no selection) – Tuesday 19th September

Hi everyone,

Our first selection on Saturday Captain Colby ran a bit of a strange race and was being pushed along by David Probert from the off to try and keep up with the pace. He then finished with a rattling run passing two thirds of the field to finish 7th, just a neck and a nose out of the places. If he could have got going just 30 yards earlier he would have definitely been placed.

Aclaim ran an absolute cracker considering he met trouble in running and a gap closed on Oisin Murphy as he was producing him after the two pole. He had to gather him up and angle him out for a run, and when he got daylight he battled on strongly all the way to the line to win by 3/4 of a length.

Finally we had Capri running for us in the St Leger and the race panned out pretty much as I expected with Ryan Moore tucking in behind the leaders until about 2 1/2 furlongs out. When he was asked the question he forged to the front and stayed on well to stave off the challenge of Crystal Ocean.

We finished off the St Leger meeting with another winning day. A total of 8 selections yielded 5 winners and a profit of 23.6 points over the 4 days. That brings us to a grand total of 83.62 points profit for the season.

We have analysed the only race that qualifies tomorrow, there is no formal selection but we have supplied the ratings and a brief analysis in case you do want to play.

Good luck,
The team at Cleeve

P.S. We are looking at 3 races for Wednesday so look out for an email tomorrow night.

Race Analysis:

Cleeve Top 3 Rated:
1) High End – 48
2) Opinionate – 43
3) Intellect– 42

Race analysis:
This is a trappy race with a disappointing turnout of only 5 runners declared.

High End is the most likely winner, but I am not convinced he will handle the prevailing ground. He has run and won 3 times, twice on the all weather and once on good to firm which he won’t get here.

That might let in Intellect who has winning form on soft going, but last time out was only in Class 4 which means a big step forward is needed here. Opiniate has been raised 8lbs for his latest win but this is also a step up in class which will make it difficult.

At the forecast prices I don’t see any value to be had here and as there is no EW angle with only the 5 runners we’ll have to give the race a miss… no bet.
