We did well to keep or powder fairly dry today, and although Epsom Icon disappointed, it could have been worse.
Still we are looking for a profitable weekend and to that end have selections at both Goodwood and The Curragh tomorrow...
The Cleeve team
Goodwood 16:15 - 7f class 1 Doom Bar Supreme Stakes (Group 3) (3yo plus)
Here Comes When has the soft conditions he loves for the first time this season and can take this group 3 from Ivawood who though top rated would prefer much faster ground. In fact the only time that Ivawood has raced on ground this soft he was beaten at long odds on.
Here Comes When has been running pretty well in defeat and was only beaten 3 lengths behind Solow in the Sussex Stakes on this course when his cause wasn’t helped by racing early on, and he was only beaten two lengths behind Night of Thunder in the Group One Lockinge at Newbury, so he has already shown the level of form required to win this.
Curragh 16:50 - 1m class Tote Irish Cambridgeshire (Premier Handicap) (3yo plus)
Hint of a Tint comes here in great form having taken a very competitive handicap on his seasonal debut at Galway where he beat Baraweez. She travelled kindly in behind the leaders and swept to the front coming round the home turn, and Wayne Lourdan only had to keep her up to her work winning quite cosily despite the distance. That run came after a long layoff and hopefully she can progress again as she is relatively lightly raced for a 5 year old with just 12 runs.
She has already shown her liking for the course course winning form when she won her maiden here as a two year old and looks good value at a double figure price with 5 places on offer.
Recent Ascot winner Portage bids to break the appalling record of favourites in the race and could have a touch of class, so is rated the main danger.
