Cleeve flat member selections – Breeders Cup & Melbourne Cup

Hi there,

We have a couple of bets with an international flavour for you! Firstly we are off to Keeneland tonight for the Breeders Cup Mile, then a quick 10,000 mile jaunt over to Australia on Tuesday night for 'the race that stops the nation', The Melbourne Cup.

Good luck!

The Cleeve team

19:30 Keeneland - 1m class Breeders Cup Mile (Grade 1) (Turf) (3yo plus)

Selections:

Make Believe - 1 point win @ 3/1 with BetVictor

Race Analysis:

Make Believe warmed up for this with a comfortable victory in the Prix de le Foret where he disposed of a high class field with relative ease that included Limato and Toormore. He had previously disappointed at Royal Ascot but Andre Fabre said the ground was just to quick for him so he will definitely appreciate the recent rain. Prior to Ascot he demolished French Derby winner and Arc second New Bay and his trainer is a master at having them spot on for the big day.
Make Believe is drawn well in stall 3 on this tight turning track.
and the step up to a mile should be fine on this fast track and he has speed to match the best of them. Fabre thought he might need  the run at Longchamp when he won impressively, so he just improve again tonight!
Although Legatissimo looks quite short in the Breeders Cup Filly And Mares Turf, she looks a cut above the opposition and I wouldn’t put you off including her in a double.

Flemington - Melbourne Cup

Selections:

Max Dynamite 1 point each way @ at 12/1 with Bet365 (4 places 1/4 odds)

Race Analysis:

Max Dynamite won the Group Two Lonsdale Cup very easily at York in the hands of Frankie Dettori by 5 lengths from a decent field. Put away for this since then he travelled well and has been pleasing David Casey on the gallops.
Previously a winning hurdler he has vastly improved as he has got older and stronger, so much so that the story from the Mullins yard is that he will not go back over timber. It’s a ferociously competitive affair but this race seems now to be in the grip of overseas trainers and with conditions in his favour and from a decent draw he looks like he must go close.
