Hi there, we have an eyecatcher running on Saturday in a decent novices chase at Kempton. The horse is currently a value price but unfortunately, it's only a seven runner race so takes an each way bet out of the equation doesn't as we won't get 3 places.
Still, at the price we will take our chances and hope that the gambling gods are smiling on us! Read on to see what we think of his chances in this contest...
The team at Cleeve
1.15 Kempton, Betway Pendil Novices Chase (Class 1) (0-150 5YO+) 2M 4F 110Y Soft.
Erick Le Rouge has had four runs over fences, winning two of them including last time out at this track, when ridden by Lizzie Kelly. In that race Erick was ridden in fairly prominently and took the lead up three out, put in a good jump at the last and stayed on well to beat Gowiththeflow by three-quarters of a length. That race was at Kempton on January 11th over 2M 5F on soft ground in a class three race. Erick has been running in class three races but steps up to class one on Saturday so it looks tough, however, on the plus side, he does have winning form over both hurdles and fences at the track.
Of his opposition here, both Master Tommytucker, trained by Paul Nicholls and Pistol Whipped, trained by Nicky Henderson, are highly-rated, however, they both fell last time out and we need to see them put in a clear round here. Nicholls also has Southfield Stone in the race, which will be ridden by Bryony Frost. He was an easy winner in his last race, winning by 24 lengths in a class three race. Commanche Red also won well last time out in a class three race when beating Simply The Betts by 9 lengths. Who Dares Wins has been running consistently without getting his head in front. Queens Magic unseated behind Lady Buttons and had previously won a class four novice chase at Huntingdon by 21/2 lengths.
At the current price, Erick Le Rouge is a value win bet in this seven runner novice chase based upon his effort last time out and question marks against the market leaders.
