Cleeve Racing – Eyecatchers w/e 8th September

Eyecatchers

Hi there,

We have two more eyecatchers for you this morning, they both have entries this week, so we may see them in action soon, members will get an alert when they do go to post with an analysis of their chances under actual race conditions... as our database of eyecatchers grows we will have more frequent runners but last week's pair both won!

Best wishes
The team at Cleeve

6/10/2018, 5.00 Newmarket, British EBF Breeders Fillies Series Middle Distance Handicap (Class 2 0-120) 6F

Selections:

Asoof

Race Analysis:

Four-year-old bay filly
Trainer:  Saeed Bin Suroor
Owner: Godolphin
Breeding: By Dubawi out of Lady’s Purse (Doyen)
Record: 8 runs, 3 wins and 2 places.

Asoof has been off the track since running in Meydan in February where she had two runs, first in January where she finished second of seven to Poetic Charm over one mile, finishing well to close up on the winner at the line. She then stepped up to nine furlongs and reopposed Poetic Charm. Asoof went off 4/6 favourite but ran poorly to be fourth of six. Something was clearly amiss as she has not been seen on the course since.

Her last run in the UK was at Newmarket on October 6th 2018, when she finished third to Rawdaa and Dynamic over ten furlongs. The distance may have been a bit too far for her that day but she might get it with another year on her back.

The reports are she is now back in rude health and working well at home, so Asoof is expected to get back on to the course soon and have a fruitful autumn campaign to win races here before going back to Dubai for the winter.

31st July, EBF Median Auction Maiden Fillies Stakes (Class 4 0-100) (2Y0) 6F

Selections:

Entrancing

Race Analysis:

Two-year-old briar filly
Trainer: Richard Fahey
Owner: Cheveley Park Stud
Breeding: By Mayson, out of Hypnotize (Machiavellian)

Entrancing is a highly rated filly owned by Cheveley Park Stud and trained by Richard Fahey. She won on her debut easily at Leicester over six furlongs where she easily beat the favourite Barbarella on heavy going. She had to be kept up to her work during the first part of the race but ran on strongly and looked better the further they went. She is sure to benefit from a step up in trip and is expected to have a successful autumn campaign before she progresses to be a useful three-year-old in 2020.
