Hi there,

earlier on in the week Captain Cattistock again lacked any finishing pace in his first run in hunter chases to fade into fourth. He has become very disappointing and looks like a horse without a trip. He did not hit the target price of 2/1 for a bet on the day so was a no bet on the eyecatchers P&L. The going was a bit quicker than he would like and he is still physically developing so we will continue to monitor him in this new sphere for him for the time being.

On to Saturday and we have another eyecatcher going in a handicap chase at Kempton. We analyse his chances and his opposition and are making a recommendation as to how you should approach the race from a betting perspective.

Good luck

Erick Le Rouge - 1 point each way at 12/1 Bet365, Coral and Bet Victor (3 places, 1/5 odds)

Race Analysis:

Erick Le Rouge (or Cantona to you Man Utd fans) has had three runs in chases in his career, all this season. He won impressively on his first run at Uttoxeter over two and a half miles, beating Not That Fuisse a shade comfortably. However he has since disappointed in his two latest runs, finishing well beaten over both two and a half miles and three miles. All of his chase runs have been at class three, as is this race.

His trainer Jane Williams drops the horse back to two and a half miles in this race and he will be ridden by his regular pilot Chester Williams, who claims three pounds here. Whilst Erick’s hurdle form gives his trainer the hope of a successful chasing career, his last two efforts are concerning.

Of his opposition in this race Mercian Prince carries top weight. He has been an admirable servant for his trainer Amy Murphy and he will no doubt put in another solid effort in here. One For Billy ran poorly on his seasonal debut for Dan Skelton and may need another run or two yet. Sammy Bell is two from two over fences and may improve further here despite his rise in the weights. The other runners look out of form.

Erick Le Rouge is two from two at Kempton and so this race may bring about a return to decent form. bearing that in mind he looks decent value as an each-way bet at 6/1 or better and we can get double those odds!
