Yesterday Top Ville Ben won his race well from the front but did not hit our each way price in the betting so is not registered as a bet on the Eyecatchers P&L (he was a Cleeve members selection). Captain Tommy was disappointing and dropped out tamely despite the drop in distance and so he is now deleted from our list of horses to follow. Clearly something looks to be amiss with him.
On to tomorrow and we have an each way pick in a what looks to be a competitive handicap chase. He drops back in distance after not staying three miles last time out... read on to see who the horse is and what we think of his chances.
The Cleeve team
3.35 Newbury, Betway Novices Handicap Chase (Class 3) (0-150 4YO+) 2M 6F 93Y
Kapgarry drops back in distance here from his previous run at three miles, where he clearly failed to stay. Ideally he would be back at two and a half miles but the Twiston Davies team run him here and Sam fresh from his King George triumph takes the ride for his father.
Kapgarry has had three runs over fences, winning once, placed once and unplaced last time out. He is a six year old and so still has plenty of potential improvement to come. He has 10st 4lb here so is not over burdened. The horse has won on soft ground and so if seeing out the distance of this race should go well.
The race is competitive and there are plenty of under exposed types in the race. Tidal Flow has top weight to carry. However Mellow Ben and Kateson, among others, will pose a threat.
As an each way bet Kapgarry is considered each-way value at odds of 10/1 or better.
