Kapgarry failed to stay on Saturday as we feared and he will now only be followed by us at up to two and a quarter miles in distance. We have another eyecatcher running on Monday in novice handicap chase company. Such races tend to include horses starting off on their career over fences and so form is hard to gauge.
Take a look at our post to see who the eyecatcher is and how we rate his chances...

1.50 Taunton, Setsquare Recruitment Novices Handicap Chase (Class 4) (0-120 4YO+) 2M 7F 3Y Soft.
Shaughnessy is a six year old bay gelding trained by Oliver Sherwood. His only win to date under rules was in a national hunt flat race in May 2018. He has had three runs over hurdles as a learning experience, placing once. He started his chasing career last time out, finishing a distance third over three miles at Chepstow to Lamanver Pippin on November 2oth. That was a gentle introduction to fences and now he takes his next step over the bigger obstacles.
Shaughnessy should come on for his last run and will be suited by a test over three miles. His trainer rates him a promising type to go chasing. Of the opposition in this race Manofthemountain is the joint top weight and has won twice this season. He unseated last time out but has potential in this category. Elite Garde has won his last two races for his trainer Paul Webber and he has Richard Johnson in the saddle here.
Shaughnessy does have promise in this sphere and is worth following, but in this race he is only rated each way value at 6/1 or better.
