Cleeve Racing eyecatchers – w/e 14th July

25 May, 1.45 Chester Controlled Solutions Group Novice Stakes 7 1/2 F (Class 4) (3yo+ 0-100)

Race Analysis:

Three-year-old chestnut filly
By Toronado, out of Biased (by Haffhd)
Trainer – John Best

On her second career run Torochica dwelt at the start and was outpaced early, however she ran on late to finish third at 25/1, beaten by Hero Hero and Guandi. This looked to be a very promising run from the horse. On her debut run on the all-weather at Chelmsford she finished down the field but it looked to be nothing more than a gentle introduction to racing for the horse.

It is likely that she’s going to the sales soon due to the owner being made bankrupt so it is likely she will be tuned up next time out to put her best foot forward.

17 April, 3.35 Newmarket Bet365 Craven Stakes 1M (Class 1) (3YO 0-120)

Race Analysis:

Three-year-old bay colt
By Shamardal, out of O’Giselle (by Octagonal)
Trainer – Charlie Appleby

Zakouski was beaten 4 1/4 lengths by Skardu in the Craven Stakes, looking inexperienced and immature in finishing fifth for Godolphin. However, he showed sufficient promise to be able to think that his trainer could pick up a nice prize with him as he matures.

On his debut run in November 2018 he beat Headman by 2 lengths over 7 furlongs on the all-weather at Kempton, showing a tidy turn of foot in a field on thirteen.

Recent reports suggest he’s going well at home and it seems he will be reappearing very soon. Zakouski can progress this season and significantly step up the ratings.
