22nd June, 2.40 Redcar H Jarvis 141st Anniversary Handicap (Class 3) (4YO 0-95) 7F Good
Four-year-old bay filly
Sire – Helmet
Dam – Lifetime Romance (by Mozart)
Trainer – Adam West
A lightly raced filly who had been off the track since July 2018 before his latest run. Bambino Lola returned to racing last Saturday (22nd June) at Redcar over seven furlongs.
She was beaten 3/4 lengths and a neck by Raydiance and Ulshaw but ran a race full of promise. The filly surprisingly wasn’t strong in the market beforehand but broke smartly and travelled really well for Royston Ffrench. He had to start pushing her along at the 2-furlong pole, but she stayed on really well and wasn’t knocked around…
Previously Bambino Lola had won on three occasions, winning over six and seven furlongs and on fast ground and ground with cut, so she seems pretty straightforward. She will definitely come on a lot for that run and should go close in a similar contest.
20th June, 3.05 Ascot Hampton Court Stakes (Group 3, Class 1) (3YO) 1M 2F Soft
Three-year-old bay colt
Sire – Kingman
Dam – Go Lovely Rose (out of Pivotal)
Purchased for 650,000 euro
Trainer – Roger Varian
Roseman met trouble in his race at Ascot and finished behind Sangarius, being beaten 4 1/2 lengths in fifth. The colt stayed on well after getting a clear run and ran on well on the soft ground, which may not have suited. Now he looks set to make his name at group level at one mile two furlongs or further.
Roseman has plenty of improvement to come as he has had only four career runs, winning once and placing twice. Andrea Atzeni is contracted to ride for his owner and so we can be confident he will get good assistance from the saddle.
