Hi everyone,

are you going to have a bet on the virtual Grand National? - I've got the monopoly money out of the box and will be having a pin sticker each-way punt on Top Ville Ben at a massive 45/1 πŸ™‚ You never know what the algorithm will come up with? In saying that its been pretty accurate over the years and I may not pass go and end up in jailΒ  πŸ™

My 13-year-old is putting up his chores on Tiger Roll falling at the last (its a conspiracy don't you know?) so if that does happens he's off all his jobs for a fortnight!! Good luck with that son.

The Virtual Grand National will be shown on ITV tomorrow and a lot of bookies have a market for this although looking on Oddschecker every single bookmaker has exactly the same price on every horse. If you are going to have a bet all proceeds will be going to the NHS which is great. It also looks like all bookies are limiting bets to Β£10 Win or Β£10 each way

Quote from Bet365 website
"You should note that this is a charity event and not a typical betting market and involves a simulation of a horse race. For production purposes and in agreement with the British Gambling Commission, this event has been pre-recorded by a production company on behalf of ITV as a result of which a small number of operational people will know the outcome of the event. All of these individuals are subject to strict confidentiality obligations. bet365 will not be party to this information, nor do we believe any other licensed betting operators will be. Stakes limited to Β£10 Win or Β£10 Each Way."

Inspired Entertainment is the company behind generating the CGI virtual Grand National and to be fair their algorithm has not been far off over the 3 years they have run it. In 2017 the algorithm came up with six of the top ten finishers and the runner-up in the real race and in Β 2018 it selected six of only 12 finishers and the winner.

In 2019 they had Rathviden as the winner (3rd in the real race) Tiger Roll 2nd (winner in the real race) Jury Duty 3rd (US rider at the 18th) and Anible Fly 4th (5th in the real race) so not too shabby.

We will never know if Tiger Roll would have gone down in history as the first horse to ever win the Grand National 3 years running (Red Rum did win 3 times in 1973, 1974 and 1977 but remarkably he also came second in 1975 and 1976) which is a real shame but let's hope he is back next year to have a crack at equaling Red Rums record.

Ratings
A racecard for the Virtual Grand National has been published so we have run the ratings for you. Our algorithm has been developed and refined to work for races in general...Inspired: the company that has developed the algorithm for today's race will have tweaked it massively for the actual race conditions so I'll be pleasantly surprised if we get close to their result.

Like it. Big price at 50/1 but the Virtual Daryl Jacobs has gone for Bristol De Mai. Kildisart did run a big race at Cheltenham and was staying on all the way up the hill.

Think Kildisart is a live each way shot at the prices but am particularly keen on Acapella Bourgeois.

Tiger Roll 5/1 1/5 1,2,3,4,5 bet to nothing and that result will produce more profit for the NHS as noone above has mentioned him – ran a cracker at Cheltenham and not given a hard race lol – if they use the same method as previous years they can’t have him out the five and will create interest all the way round – my Jeannie is on Beware The Bear – have fun everyone – I will comment on the @CleeveRacing Twitter later πŸ˜€πŸ˜ŽπŸ‡πŸ½πŸ‡πŸ½πŸ‡πŸ½

      Hi Steve
Yes your the first to go for Tiger but cant doubt your reasoning the only way can be out of the first 5 is if they have him falling.
My lads got him falling at the last against his chores😁😁 will be sick as a chip if he gets that one up!!

Ok Corral was my Antepost so I’ll stick with him. Kimberlite Candy was my next best

  9. Ian on April 4, 2020 at 10:21 am

Kimberlite Candy. Excellent winner of the Classic Chase at Warwick, same race One For Arthur won before taking the National.

    Cheers everyone!
I was on Potter’s Corner for our ante-post selection and I hoovered up all 18/1 I could find. The winnings from my tenner each way will be spent on pizza to be delivered to Newmarket police, fire and ambulance stations on Willie Snaith Drive for the over night shift crews.
Keep the faith, all my fellow Cleeve members, it proves that the ratings and selection methods that the team use; are based on sound principles and knowledge of racing. I look forward to when we can have a proper bet again!
Stay safe, look after your community and help wherever we are able to.
