Highlight of the week....
We finally got a winner on the board for the week with Charbel on Sunday...
Low point of the week
The disappointing Sandown meeting where the ground turned out much worse than we factored into the selection process...
It feels like we are a yard that has the virus because at the moment most of our selections are just not running up to their form. To put things into perspective we are 19 points down on the season so far but its early days and we know that these things even out over the season and that things will turn around soon.
With regards to our selections on Saturday, especially at Sandown where we were caught out by the weather somewhat and the ground was much softer than the official going that we anticipated. Some of us were there on the Friday and it was glorious... the ground that was officially given as soft/good to soft in places but rode a lot deeper than that, then rain overnight and more in the afternoon meant it was bottomless by the end of the day and they were finishing in slow motion... this was further underlined by the many cars marooned in the mud in the centre of the course. We are not making excuses it's just a factor we have to contend with given that we put selections out the night before.
On a brighter note, we did finish the week with our only selection on Sunday; Charbel winning comfortably from Gods Own (we said in the post that we thought that would be the forecast and it paid £11.61 so hopefully some of you were on).
So we got finally got back in the winner's enclosure... albeit to small profits and let's hope it's the start of a winning run which gets us back into profit for the season.
The notes on the antepost selections we gave out on Friday night will be out today and tomorrow and though they didn't cover themselves in glory, there are no reasons to give up on them either.
