week 6 (or is it, 7 lost count, now) of lockdown and it's beginning to feel like this is how it's always been.
We are all eagerly awaiting the government's plans for the easing of restrictions - what that will entail your guess is as good as mine.
Of course, we all want Racing to resume as soon as possible but that has to be in the context of first and foremost safety for all involved be it behind closed doors and taking into account the public perception of the sport.
The Racing authorities have to be very careful of alienating Racing if its the only sport that restarts a long time before other mainstream sports such as Football and Cricket. Yes, there are different criteria that can be applied to different sports but the last thing racing needs is for it to restart and someone involved then goes onto contract Corona Virus and the whole thing has to shut down again. I am not being negative just pragmatic as any stop-start situation will be counterproductive.
The BHA have released their latest updates with regards to tentative fixtures to try and get the Pattern back on track but are they still being over-optimistic? It all hinges on what the Government will allow when they announce what people can and can't do when restrictions are eased. Fingers crossed that everything goes to plan.
Below we have given a precis of this weeks news.
