Highlight of the week

I suppose that getting back into the winning groove after the 'death by 1000 cuts' at Royal Ascot was the most satisfying aspect of the week gone by...

Low point of the week

Not sure why the change of tactics on Speedo Boy who is usually held up. He was given a fairly soft time of it on the front but found exactly zero when asked to quicken up by Jason Watson. I imagine it's odds on he will revert to being held up next time!

Weekly overview

It was a relatively slow week with only one selection midweek ahead of the usual weekend action, but it was a decent one none the less with 7.5 points profit which means we have clawed half our Royal Ascot losses back already.

Power of Darkness won at Salisbury on Thursday under a good ride from Andrea Atzeni. He missed the break and given Salisbury's track configuration I thought that we had it all on, but for the first time this season he settled well and picked the leaders up readily when asked.

On Saturday Limato finally got everything falling his way when landing the Gerry Fielden but Mawakib who was very strongly supported pre-race was disappointing, and Lake Volta and Speedo Boy (who is fast becoming a Cleeve 'cliff horse') finished well down the fields in their respective races.

A bit of housekeeping now...

  1. Our eyecatchers service is NOT to be treated as member bets and will be reported under a separate P&L. It is entirely up to the individual whether or not they choose to back them regardless of our recommendation.
  2. We have added a new section to this weekly review which tells you what is going to be happening in the upcoming week to give you a heads up as to what races we will be analysing, and when you can expect an email re a members post (whether there is a selection or not).
  3. Based on some of the emails we have been receiving there is increasing complexity around  BOG markets and whether we should be advising bigger odds or more places. We will be sending out a survey in a couple of days to give you chance to tell us what you think... we'd really appreciate it if you could spare a couple of minutes to tell us.

The week ahead...

We will be analysing the following races for the week ahead:-

Tuesday - 4.15 @Hamilton
Friday - 2.20, 3.25 and 4.00 @Sandown
Saturday - Sandown (5 races), Haydock (4 races)

So keep an eye on your inboxes... if for any reason you don't get an email check the website for a post and let us know asap so we can have a look at what the problem is...

Best wishes,
The team at Cleeve
