Highlight of the week
Nuts Well getting up the hattrick carry top weight after another 6lbs rise. He may find winnable opportunities now thin on the ground as he is rated over 150 now.
We will keep an eye on him and see what connections do with him.
Low point of the week
The only real low point of the week to speak of was our selection Ashington who could well have won if he hadn't blundered the second last which cost him a good few lengths and momentum. He was closing on the winner all the time and was only beaten 1/2 length.
Again a relatively quiet week with just the 3 selections as our other selection Mister Malarky was withdrawn before the race apparently due to ground conditions which strangely hadn't changed?
With another winning week with 8.6 points profit to advised stakes we are clawing back the loses mainly from November and we should be back in profit for the season over the next couple of weeks.
It definitely feels like we have got our Mojo back and long may it continue.
Our first selection on Saturday Nuts Well completed the hat-trick, defying a further 6 lb rise, and showed he is better than ever at the minute. He may struggle to find winnable races going forward after his latest reassessment takes him over 150. He tracked the pace, travelling fluently. He went to the front 3 out, and was joined approaching the next and was upsides the second at the last but drew clear easily on the run in to win by 4 1/2 lengths. It will be interesting what connections do with him now and we will be keeping an eye on him.
Our next selection Ashington was probably the best horse in the race and was up with the pace when making a real hash of the second last which cost him momentum and a good few lengths but he rallied really strongly and was finishing best of all and only got beat by half a length. If he can put a clear round in he will be dangerous. Frustratingly our 2nd top-rated Sebastopol was the one that profited from Ashington's blunder.
Our final selection Agrapart who was ridden by a claimer ran creditably in a first-time tongue strap. He was running in a handicap for the first time since his win in the 2016 Betfair Hurdle.
He was in mid-division but met some trouble before 3 out and was off the pace on the home turn. He did run on again from 2 out and passed very tired rivals on the run in claim 4th. We will take the EW money at a big price any day.
another disappointing week for the ante-post selections with Pym declared a non-runner so he goes down as a loser. Please note that we are still trying to get this service right and we not including them in the main selections P+L
The eyecatchers were a damp squib, to say the least. Kapgarry continues to underachieve and clouted the 11th and then faded badly from the home turn. He will now be deleted from the list.
Our other Eyecatcher Ask Ben was pulled up and was reported lame after the race so we can forgive him for that.
