Hi there, looking at the market for this race with the majority of bookmakers now going NRNB the 20/1 that Bet365 are going on Eskylane for the Cheltenham Festival 2020 Champion Bumper stands out like a saw thumb.
I've had my eye on this market for some time, the Willie Mullins trained Appreciate It is the hot favourite (of course it is... it's trained by Willie Mullins and runs in the Champion Bumper!) and is trading with most firms between 6/4 and 7/4.
Eskylane is 20/1 and beat Appreciate It on their respective debuts at Fairyhouse when they finished 2nd and 3rd behind Assemble. There was over 2 lengths between them and watching it back there's no good reason to think it was a fluke. Eskylane then went on to win at Navan which has a similar configuration to Cheltenham.
Despite grilling our spies over the sea we cannot confirm whether he is getting the boat over, but with NRNB if he doesn't travel our stakes are returned. One good reason that he might come over is that Gigginstown who have an armoury of good bumper horses, have publicly stated their dislike for the race and have said they won't run any of their horses in it.
He is not a recommended members bet, but some of us have had a few quid on and felt it only right to share our thoughts... should Eskylane make the boat and face the starter he could well go off the second favourite... he won't be 20/1 that's for sure!
